The Sunburn That Changed Everything: How Cove Suncare Was Born
Share
There are some moments in life that quietly change everything. For me, it wasn’t a huge business meeting or a perfectly timed opportunity — it was a 12-mile hike and the worst sunburn of my life.
At the time, I was already working behind the scenes in the cosmetic manufacturing world. I spent my days sourcing raw materials, reading ingredient decks, and learning what really goes into the products people trust on their skin. I knew sunscreen mattered. I wore it religiously. And yet… somehow, I still ended that hike burnt, uncomfortable, and frustrated with the very products that were supposed to protect me.
That was my “what if?” moment.
What if mineral sunscreen didn’t have to be thick, chalky, or leave a white cast?
What if SPF actually felt good on your skin and still aligned with clean, conscious values?
What if people actually enjoyed reapplying?
Cove started as that question.
From Ingredient Lists to Real Life
Fast forward a bit — life got even busier. I became a twin mom in my 20s, which changes how you see everything. Suddenly, it’s not just about what you put on your skin — it’s what your babies touch, breathe in, and grow up around.
I’ve also struggled with sensitive, eczema-prone skin for as long as I can remember — the kind that reacts to everything, gets irritated easily, and makes you second-guess every ingredient list. That made this even more personal for me.
That’s when Cove became non-negotiable for me.
I took everything I had learned from working in cosmetic sourcing and poured it into creating products that felt safe, effective, and genuinely enjoyable to use. That meant:
- Mineral-only UV filters
- Sensitive-skin friendly formulas
- No white cast
- Cruelty-free
- Clean, thoughtful ingredients
- And fragrances that meet ISO compliance standards
Not because it sounded trendy — but because it’s what I wanted on my own sensitive skin and my children’s skin every single day.
Built for Real Life (Not Just the Beach)
Cove isn’t just for perfect beach days. It’s for:
- Moms applying SPF one-handed with a baby on their hip
- Girls running late and reapplying in the car
- Hikes, snowy sidewalks, errands, vacations, and everyday chaos
Our products were made to fit into real life, not slow it down.
Block Party was created for hydration + protection that feels rich but never heavy.
Mist Me was built for effortless reapplication — no excuses.
Skinny Dip was made for lightweight, everyday wear that disappears into the skin.
Each one exists because there was a real problem that needed solving.
Why Cove Is Different
Cove isn’t backed by a massive corporation. It isn’t built in a boardroom. It’s built from lived experience — from sunburns, ingredient research, eczema, motherhood, and a deep belief that SPF should feel good to use.
This brand is:
- Women-founded
- Built on real cosmetic manufacturing knowledge
- Designed for sensitive skin
- Created for people who actually live in their sunscreen
I didn’t want to create “just another sunscreen.” I wanted to create the one people reach for first.
If You’re Here, You’re Part of This Story
If you’ve ever:
- Struggled to find a sunscreen that didn’t feel gross
- Worried about what ingredients you’re putting on your skin
- Dealt with sensitive or reactive skin
- Wanted something clean that still performs
- Or just wanted SPF that actually fits your life
You’re exactly who Cove was made for.
This brand exists because of one painful hike — but it keeps growing because of the community that chooses it every day. And I’ll never stop being grateful for that.
Thank you for being here. 💛
